It is amazing to see 3 years of work summarized into a 1/2 page case study by a great analyst.
Undoubtably one of the easier research interviews I’ve done in a while — speaking directly to what we did, how we ran the workshops, and how we managed communication with the teams across the world while still pitching new clients and new teams was a lot of fun. I remember thinking I was channeling my business school days at the time. I guess that is a good thing. Thank you Columbia!

Mirum’s Launch Cited as an Example of Organizational Change Best Practice
Digital Clarity Group Report features Mirum’s “One firm, with a global vision” approach to launching a global digital agency
Launched in January 2015, Mirum was the culmination of three years of complex planning and relationship building to unite 11 J. Walter Thompson Company digital agencies located across the globe. Mirum has since expanded to 47 offices in 24 countries, with over 2,400 professionals in 2016.
The story of Mirum’s founding parallels the dramatic consolidation of digital agencies over the past several years, with many mergers and acquisitions implemented to meet the needs of global clients and build the global reach of agencies. Unfortunately, as the report points out, many studies show that 70-90% of mergers and acquisitions fail because organizations don’t follow best practice in managing the organizational change.
The report, “Organizational Change Management: An (Emerging) Core Competency for Customer Experience Management” by Connie Moore, Senior Vice President of Research at Digital Clarity Group, focuses on what executives should do to ensure success with specific recommendations and case studies.
